Shari's operations
I ate at Shari's in Kelso, WA tonight for the first time in a while, and got some mixed signals.
The good: Coffee was excellent. Food was good for Shari's, and service was decent. Restaurant was clean. Counter seating has been reinstalled.
The not so good: The menu choices seem to be a little more limited, especially dinner options. The lighting was a mix of different, inconsistent lighting colors ranging from soft white to more bluish "daylight" over the tables. The outside landscaping seems to be getting neglected. The hours have been reduced again, now 7AM-10PM. The restaurant only had a few tables occupied. I also noticed that the road sign was mostly burned out. Pricing was about average for this area (which is leaning toward the high side regardless of where you go now)
I get the feeling that Shari's hasn't quite recovered from the pandemic restrictions and could be heading for trouble, but this chain seems to always be hit-or-miss with their food and service. I have seen a lot of fluctuations in their menu offerings over the years and they are sometimes hard to figure out.

Re: Shari's operations
It appears that Shari's is quietly closing a few more locations. Recently I have read about locations in Kennewick and Vancouver closing. The Vancouver location was at Fisher's Landing which, while not next to a freeway, is in an area that has seen a LOT of growth and seemed like it would have fared better, especially considering that Vancouver has no Denny's locations.

Re: Shari's operations
I don't think they've done any closures of their few units in Northern California, a few former Baker's Squares. Sacramento-Florin is an original Shari's. I am surprised with their credit card surcharge policy in CA they have enough customers willing to tolerate that that they have kept these units open.

Re: Shari's operations
I think that they just operate all of these locations until the lease is up and then they turn off the lights.

I wonder if it has been sold.Retailuser wrote: ↑July 15th, 2023, 5:05 pm They apparently closed a location in Scottsbluff NB according to the website.
Also I thought the corporate office was moved to TX, but this article and a sign that Shari's posted on the window seems to allude to the corporate office being back in OR?

Laramie closed in 2016 but Cheyenne is still open.
Next closest location is Idaho Falls.

Re: Shari's operations
I do not that that the signs ever gave the Texas office location. Am I wrong? The Cocos ones never did.
