Fred's was a fairly nice Dollar store chain. It was a larger iteration of Dollar General/Family Dollar, plus some stores had a full pharmacy. It did well, but was already in trouble when approached to buy Rite Aid. Had that gone through, the demise of both would have happened much, much sooner.
