Trader Joe's Coming to Colorado

Post by KingU8ol0Soopers »

Basically, they hope to have three stores in Colorado, have 15 stores here within five years and 25 within seven to eight years,

I've been to Trader Joe's before, and didn't see anything too special about it, but my opinion could change.

They certainly have their customer. They should do pretty well in certain parts of Colorado. Probably will pick off a lot of customers from the Whole Foods/Sunflower type stores, with a smaller pick up from Safeway and Kroger. I'm not sure how much more customer loss Safeway can afford in Colorado.

Trader Joe's announced that they're going to create the first store in Boulder, Colorado, displacing an Applebee's. However, the franchiser of the restaurant won't move out until their lease expires, which is supposed to be in late 2012. This could potentially mess up their planned timeline.

Trader Joe's is the Aldi of gourmet grocery stores...literally.

I did a blog post about them when they first arrived here that includes some history information and comments on some of their food. Link below...
