Maverik CEO to retire, immediate search for replacement

This is strange. They just did that Kum N Go acquisition and announced rebranding that network to Maverik. Building new CA Stores in places like Desert Hot Springs, Anderson, Oroville, and El Centro.
Why would the CEO leave in the middle of all this and nobody to immediately name to promote from within?

I wonder if Boise is the only Intermountain market Circle K is looking to expand into... we know they're looking at Reno too and already bought one lot.
