Scolaris- Nevada

Post by storewanderer »

Scolaris seems to be having a difficult year in Nevada this year. Reno is very competitive and it has taken a lot for this chain to make it here as long as they have.

In late 2013, they closed their Gardnerville store (this one opened around 1989; they closed the pharmacy in this store about 45 days before announcing the rest of the store was closing)

In May, they closed pharmacy departments in two Reno Stores (one opened around 1987, the other opened around 2004). These stores are still open. One of them has pretty thin inventory, but has been that way for a while now. Also at that time they announced closure of a Reno Sak N Save location (this was a very old store, high theft, other issues).

Later in May, they announced closure of a pharmacy department in one Sparks Store (this store opened in 1996).
Last week, they announced the 1996 Sparks store would be closing.

the remaining scolari's will likely close or be sold, maybe save mart can take over the sak n save stores and convert them into foodmaxx

There is only one Sak N Save still open. It would need quite a bit of capital to get up to even Save Mart's standards, but it is a good volume store.
