North Texas Kroger employees receive a raise under latest agreement

Apparently Kroger is the only North Texas grocer with a union. https://www.dallasnews.com/business/retail/2020/09/15/kroger-hourly-workers-get-a-raise-with-new-contract/ According to the last paragraph and indeed.com, worker pay at Kroger starts at $10-12 in the region. Oof. (on a personal note, I d...

Re: What exactly happened with Kroger?

Kroger posts another record quarter, beating forecaster expectations this week. The company had a large increase in eCommerce and expects 2021 to remain a good year if shoppers continue to eat more at home. https://www.reuters.com/article/kroger-results/kroger-beats-same-store-sales-estimates-on-onl...

Lighthearted / entertainment: Cafe Rio

In light of the current pandemic and relative attempt to return to normalcy, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill made a series of new TV/digital commercials that are pretty entertaining. Cafe Rio is 23 years old and has its roots in St. George, Utah. It was sold to the HB Boys Franchisee of Burger King in the ea...

Re: Signs of trouble at Target?

Target has announced they intend to open a store by (presumably) demolishing the current closed kmart store in the Jackson, Wyo. community. However, at the article's square footage, I am surprised. Last I knew, Teton County capped 'box' development at 50,000 SF and smaller. I guess everyone's always...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?

Despite issues discussed here, BB&B corporate seem to be taking advantage of other declined retail spaces.

The company is filling a gap in their trade area in a former Toys R Us near Clackamas Town Center in the Portland, Ore. metropolitan area.

Re: Dick's Sporting Goods

Dick's is taking over part of the former Sears location at Clackamas Town Center mall in Happy Valley, Oregon (Portland suburb).

It does not appear to be taking the full property.

edit: This may be a relocation. There is a Dick's up the road closer to Portland city limits in a power center.

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants

Apparently Ovation's been sold. I posted a quote from a blog I stumbled into from the Business Journals family of publications. It's posted in another thread.
