Add Costco to the list of non-union grocers.
It depends on where you live. Costco employees in California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia are unionized. That's 16% of their workforce.
Any idea if pay, benefits, or working conditions are any better in those unionized states?

The "big 3" of the region are now the big 2 for the past several years. Kroger (dba Fred Meyer, QFC) Albertsons Companies (dba Albertsons, Safeway) Other union stores that must accept what is negotiated: Bales Marketplaces Oregon Thriftway locations Rosauers (Hood River) Portland area grocery store...

Re: Thrifty Ice Cream Packaging

They are in the process of expanding distribution of Thrifty Ice Cream. It will be in all of the OR/WA Stores. Previously it was in some limited OR/WA Stores. I think it will also be in all of the ID Stores. Funny to see the older pre 1995 Thrifty logo back with a bit skinnier font and reversed col...

Re: Target Self Serve Snack Bar

Team members says they are phasing out hot food. Apparently few customers were eating the hot food, and only team members ate there regularly. It is losing money by paying fees to Pizza Hut since not enough Pizza Hut food is being sold. Only, Starbucks makes money. Target Food Avenue struggled to g...

Actually Taco Bell was bought by Pepsi in the late 60s/early 70s
Then spun off by Pepsi after Coke picked off all their restaurant accounts by using the sales spin to "why would you support one of your competitors"? Very few restaurants served Pepsi when they owned Taco Bell and others.

Actually RC Cola is owned by Dr. Pepper/Snapple/7-UP. But "distributors" or bottling companies may confuse us, like many areas receive Dr. Pepper from a Pepsi distributor. :-) So the Coca Cola Company may not be the same as Coca Cola Bottling Company. Actually RC Cola is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper n...

Re: Albertsons to bring self-checkout to all stores

Costco in Tigard, Oregon just installed the Toshiba self-checkout stations similar to what Safeway uses. It's odd in that they seem to be set up more for quick and small purchases than the large cartloads that people normally buy from Costco. Perhaps it's a way to move the smaller purchases away fro...

Wilsonville also started as Incredible Universe.
... and has a decaying roof (at least, the last time I was there).
The entire Incredible Universe store in Wilsonville looks decayed. Goofy layout too.
