Re: Albertsons to bring self-checkout to all stores

Costco in Tigard, Oregon just installed the Toshiba self-checkout stations similar to what Safeway uses. It's odd in that they seem to be set up more for quick and small purchases than the large cartloads that people normally buy from Costco. Perhaps it's a way to move the smaller purchases away fro...

Re: Target Dance Music

I was at a Target store that is undergoing the Next Gen Remodel and it sounded like I was in a dance club. The thumping dance music was almost as bad as Abercrombie & Fitch or its teenage cousin Hollister. If they start pumping cologne into the air, I will avoid this place like the plague. Well, th...

Re: Chipotle Raising Prices Due To Tariffs

These tariffs could actually happen. What will be the results if they do happen? What is the purpose of these tariffs? Is it supposed to makes jobs come back to the United States? Let's face reality here. If these tariffs were going to be something other than temporary, it would potentially bring j...

The tariffs are to punish Mexico for illegal immigration unlike the Chinese tariffs which are more in response to some o...

Re: MOD Pizza and the rise of Fast Casual pizza chains

Blaze went under after opening in Beaverton, Ore. (don't know why). We also have the other California competitor as a locally-franchised store, Pieology. https://www.pieology.com/locations They seem to be trying to differentiate themselves. I find MOD quite enjoyable, and in Portland, around $8-10 ...

Re: Fred Meyer attempts to curb shrink "a new way"

Noticed at the Gateway store in Portland, they moved HBA all in to one caged off section of the store. And you have to buy them all there as you leave the caged off area. Never seen that before at a Fred Meyer. The store was packed with shoppers so it doesn't seem to have impacted sales but man tha...
