Re: A Lidl too spread out?
They will be coming to the Cincinnati area in the fairly near future. They aren't announcing locations but a local news outlet figured out where two of the stores will be. I suppose Lidl has its reasons for choosing Cincinnati as one of its earliest markets. But Aldi has recently been accelerating t...

Kwik Chek convenience stores in Texas and Oklahoma
While doing online searching for something else, I came across this website for a chain of c stores in Texas and Oklahoma called Kwik Chek: http://www.kwikchekstores.com/index.php The site is very vague about it's origins, saying it started in Texas. But the logo is pretty much identical to the one ...

Re: If you could bring one supermarket chain to your area which one would it be?
If we're not worried about anything like practicality, it would be interesting to see how Publix would do in a different area. They seem like a pretty strong operation in their home area but also seem like they benefit from generally weak competitors. Very good point. I'm old enough to remember whe...

I wish we could do a trade. Meijer doesn't impress me very much. I don't put much emphasis on atmosphere when I shop but it's like going into a combination warehouse/mortuary. Plus, as I said, price and selection aren't all that.

If you could bring one supermarket chain to your area which one would it be?
I'm thinking of chains that are currently in operation, not defunct ones. Also thinking of ones you personally like, and reasons why, setting aside things like (1) the practicality of it ever happening (if you live in Maine and would like H-E-B there, go for it), and (2) whether or not the chain or ...

Here's the answer: http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2017/08/29/some-former-marsh-stores-get-new-name/613485001/ All are being renamed Needler's, with one being called Chief Supermarket. Needler's???? Can anyone tell me where they got that name? On edit: OK, I re-read the article and see where the...

Re: Marsh stops rent payments on six stores
Bigger question is if Fresh Encounters, which already operates under a number of names (Remke, which they acquired, Community Markets, Chief, Great Scot*, Sack-N-Sav) will keep the Marsh name too. Re: Kroger sues Lidl over trademark infringement
If anything this shows Kroger sees Lidl as a serious threat, which I'm surprised of, considering seeing how early articles seemed to demonstrate Lidl didn't really understand how the American grocery market of. I would think Lidl would be more of a threat to Aldi. In any event, Lidl is entering the...

Re: Anyone been to Giant Eagle Market District?
I've been to the Giant Eagle Market District location on Third Avenue in Columbus, Ohio twice in the last 15 months. It's pretty impressive. They have a bar and a HUGE craft beer section. Prices don't seem too out of line, and they have a full selection of "regular" supermarket items as we...
