Lucky Hercules CA

Post by storewanderer »

This Lucky in Hercules is an interesting place. It appears this store was opened by Raleys probably around 1988 and was transferred to American Stores in July 1999.

Inside the store has the typical Save Mart LUcky wall decor but the rest of the inside is real spotty. It looks like ASC or ABS moved the pharmacy to the right side center wall. With Raleys, this department was probably in the back. The design and work flow of the pharmacy looked like an ASC pharmacy. There was a long awkward area along the back wall where I am guessing the pharmacy was when this was Raleys. The large area on the front wall of the drug side where Raleys would have placed video, customer service, and a bank branch was all empty and very awkward looking. It also looks like ASC moved produce from the middle of the store to the area right in front of the bakery/deli (which is on the other side wall, along with meat, and a tiny seafood case). The entire produce/bakery/deli/meat/seafood area seemed crammed and undersized. There wasn't really any sort of tile job behind any of the departments, just plain white plastic looking walls. The floor in the store was the typical ASC Lucky floor with the beige and white checkered pattern with some blue thrown in around the refrigeration. This store had the best stocked drug department I've seen in one of these NorCal Stores since they were still being run by Albertsons.
