First... Pizza Hut wants to rename itself "The HUT"
Now Radio Shack is planning to rename some or all of its stores to "The Shack"
Who will be the next chain to call themselves "The (insert name here)"?

If I recall correctly, Circuit City was toying around a bit with a name change to "The City" shortly before they went under.

Radio Shack in Canada changed their name to The Source by Circuit City. Bell Canada bought that division from Circuit City and now it is simply called The Source.
The Shack will take some getting used to. However, Radio Shack stores in Canada survived being renamed to The Source.

Far as I heard "the shack" is just being used as their tag line in the new ad campaign. From what I've read about it on Brand New they will not be changing their name or signage on stores, its just an identity campaign trying to create a nickname as commonly known as 'coke' or 'fedex.' It's a little forced if you ask me.
